How the Simpcity Forums are organized
The Simpcity Forums use a classic board index. The top level lists main categories. Each category holds forums and subforums, each forum holds threads, and each thread holds the opening post plus replies. Once you know that hierarchy you can find almost anything in two or three clicks.
| Level | What you see on the Simpcity Forums |
|---|---|
| Category | A heading on the board index that groups related forums. |
| Forum / subforum | A room with its own thread list, rules and pinned threads. |
| Thread | One topic: a title, an opening post and every reply. |
| Post | A single message inside a thread, which you can quote, react to, report or bookmark. |
Room-by-room guide
Main boards
The busiest part of the Simpcity Forums. Threads here are usually dedicated to one specific subject, and the opening post often collects the most useful links and information. Search before creating a new thread, because there’s a good chance one already exists. Add to it instead of starting a duplicate.
Belongs here: a focused topic other members can keep updating. Does not belong: “any recommendations?” with no detail, account problems, or off-topic chat — those go to Lifestyle, Support or Community.
Lifestyle & talk
General conversation, recommendations and opinions. It’s more relaxed than the main boards, but the same rules apply: stay respectful, keep titles descriptive, and move off-topic tangents into their own thread.
Use this room when you want a conversation, not a canonical thread. If the chat turns into a lasting resource, someone will often suggest moving it — or you can start a tighter thread in Main boards and link back.
Guides & tips
How-tos written by members, covering using the Simpcity Forums, finding content, managing your account and more. A good place to learn search tricks and posting etiquette from people who have been around a long time.
Before you write a new guide, search titles. Duplicate how-tos split answers. Update an existing one, or ask in the thread whether a new write-up would help.
Community
Introductions, off-topic chat and meta discussion about the Simpcity Forums themselves, such as feedback, suggestions and announcements. If you’re new, this is the friendliest place for a first post.
Intro threads work best with a short hello, how you found the Simpcity Forums, and what rooms you plan to read. You do not owe a life story.
Support
Login problems, missing confirmation emails, access issues and bug reports. Include what you tried, which browser and device you’re using, and any error message, so staff can help quickly. Never post your password or email codes here.
Where should I post?
| You want to… | Best room on the Simpcity Forums |
|---|---|
| Discuss one specific subject | Main boards (search for an existing thread first) |
| Chat, recommend or ask opinions | Lifestyle & talk |
| Learn how something works | Guides & tips |
| Say hello or give feedback | Community |
| Fix a login or account problem | Support |
| Report spam or a fake link | Use Report on the post; mention it in Support only if it is an access issue |
How to read the board index
The live Simpcity Forums index is a list, not a feed. Each row is a room. The numbers on the right are thread and post counts. The last-post column shows who bumped the room and when. Bold room names usually mean unread posts since your last visit.
- Bold forum names usually mean there are unread posts since your last visit.
- Use “mark forums read” to reset unread markers after catching up.
- Pinned (sticky) threads at the top of a room hold its rules and key info. Read those before posting.
- Locked threads are read-only, so look for a newer continuation thread.
- Watch a whole forum to get alerts whenever a new thread appears.
- Prefixes, when a room uses them, let you filter the thread list (guides, requests, solved, and so on).
Starting a thread in the right room
- Open the category on simpcity.cr.
- Search that room for the subject. If a thread exists, reply there.
- If you still need a new thread, write a title that names the subject, not a mood.
- Put the important facts in the opening post: what you need, what you already know, and any limits.
- Stay on that topic. Start a second thread if a new question appears.
